MIRADOR with Edward Tamayo

Edward Tamayo | Obrador de Moviments

NOVEMBER 30, 2024

Workshop: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM – Participation: €8

Presentation: 7:30 PM – Public entry: Voluntary contribution

We return with the Workshop-Presentation Mirador cycle, a space for the visibility of the artist and their creation through proximity and exchange. Throughout the season, different artists and choreographers will share their proposals, inviting the audience to immerse themselves in their creative process.

Before each presentation, we organize a workshop to allow participants to explore and get closer to the artist’s universe. No prior dance experience is required to participate.

The goal of Mirador is to create new connections between artists and audiences, offering a direct and tangible experience of the creative process. Through regular programming, we transform the space by bringing the dancer/creator closer to the public, enabling them to experience art in a physical and immersive way.

     FLORNECIA

EDWARD TAMAYO

Flornecia is a solo performed by Edward Tamayo that arises from the disappearance of his brother in Colombia. In this piece, the performer delves into the incarnation of his own demons, beings that share the same origin and piece of land, and how the darkness of these demons dances through the body, with pleasure, danger, and cruelty, including and accepting it:

“It’s been more than a year and a half since Jonatan disappeared. The desire to dance with him again brings forth this dance. We move to his hometown, Mesitas del Colegio, in the Cundinamarca region of Colombia. Fields and mud, amid violence, poverty, and abandonment, the dance remains; it dresses as a demon and decrepitude, and remains. It undresses like a serpent, shedding its skin, causing pain to the point of despair. And always, inevitably always, the dance returns, remembers, and remains.”
