DEBORAH TORRES
Deborah Torres is a dancer, dance teacher, choreographer, artistic director, and choreography assistant. Since 2020, she has been teaching the youngest children of Obrador de Moviments.

Deborah Torres Garguilo was born and raised in Barcelona. She trained at the Institut del Teatre in classical dance, and later continued her theater training at the Nancy Tuñón School. In 1993, she moved to Paris to explore new contemporary and somatic dance techniques. At the same time, she began studying performing arts at the University of Paris X in Nanterre, where she remained for three years. In 2013, she graduated as a contemporary dance teacher from the Centre National de la Danse in Pantin. She also completed several intensive courses on functional movement analysis at the RIDC in Paris and graduated as a Certified Body Balance Pilates Instructor in 2016.
During her career as a dancer, between 1994 and 2016, she worked with prominent choreographers and companies, such as Jean Gaudin, Alexis Manuel, Ballet Actuel, Blanca Li (with whom she also began collaborating as an assistant since 1999), the cie Labkine (Noelle Simoi and Jean) and the Ipso Facto company (David Rolland).
As a dance teacher, Deborah has taught classes at various higher education institutions, schools, and conservatories. She has also taught dance for aspiring actors and worked at the Créteil Regional Conservatory. She has also served on several juries at conservatories in the Ile-de-France region.
As a choreographer, she has created several dance works. In 2013, she co-wrote the duet “Entre-deux/Mar i Muntanya” with Veronique Teindas, presented at the CCN Studio in Créteil and premiered at the CCN in Tours, directed by Thomas Lebrun. In 2014, she created the solo “Suliloqui” in collaboration with the music group Triulet, which was performed at the Antic Teatre in Barcelona. She also choreographed the music video “Nothing Left To Say” for Imagine Dragons, which became the band’s official music video, with Patrick Foch directing it in 2019.
In 2011 and 2012, she was commissioned as artistic director of the “Jour de Fête” event for the CCN (City of Culture and Culture) in Créteil (directed by Mourad Merzouki), in collaboration with the Maison des Arts de Créteil, coordinating more than 3,000 amateurs around a parade. From 2011 to 2015, she coordinated a school dance project at the Ecole Casalis in Créteil, with four classes of children aged 8 to 12, with a final performance under show conditions. In November 2012, she joined the Romanian National Opera to adapt “Les Indes Galantes,” an opera by Rameau with choreography by Blanca Li. In recent years, she has worked as Blanca Li’s choreography assistant on various productions, including “Robots,” “Deses y Démons,” “Solstice” (a production at the Théâtre National de Chaillot), and “Didon et Enée,” touring internationally.
Déborah Torres continues to explore movement through other techniques and is deeply interested in somatics, and more specifically, the Feldenkrais Method. She is currently a dance teacher at the Obrador, where she teaches classes to 4- and 5-year-old children as part of the “Move in Freedom” program. She is also completing accredited training in the Feldenkrais Method offered at the Obrador de Moviments. At the same time, she continues her collaboration with choreographer Blanca Li as a dance instructor and assistant director.
