Atelier with Pau Arán

Obrador de Moviments | Pau Aran

Intensive Dance Workshop with Pau Arán
11 to 15 march 2024

Atelier is a workshop offered by Obrador de Moviments and Pau Aran.

The series addresses in an inclusive way the needs of members of the local community of Barcelona: artists, dancers, cultural workers, body-based practitioners and teachers.

In its essence, Atelier deals with our desire as a community of connectivity and roots. Atelier uses the image of trees. Rooted on Earth, trees provide sustenance, growth and a network of stability to sustain the forest. Our intention with this workshop is to offer opportunities for expansion through shared resources and experiences.

This workshop is also addressed to emerging professional dancers looking for a starting point to enter the world of work. Recent graduates of training programs are encouraged to join! Pau will create a short piece during the workshop week, which will be shown at the end of the process.

Born in Barcelona, he began his career at the age of eleven through Latin American dances, standard dance, jazz, modern and classical ballet.

He completed his studies at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza ‘Mariemma’ in Madrid and later at the Folkwang Hochschule der Künste in Essen, before joining the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal – Pina Bausch in 2005, until 2020 as permanent member and later as guest.

Among his most significant shows are Avui em veus, demà seré invisible (2013); Tres maneras and Mimosa (2016) and Notes of Life (2019, produced in Yokohama).

His current motivation is to continue developing the expression of his art through body language, focusing on the creation and pedagogy of contemporary dance. The search for beauty, movement and his interest in the poetics of contemporary theatre-dance are represented in his projects.
