SARA SANGUINO

Sara Sanguino is co-artistic director of Obrador de Moviments , dancer, choreographer, dance teacher and accredited Feldenkrais Method teacher.

She trained as a dancer at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, specializing in classical dance. She began her professional career at the Zaragoza Ballet, under the direction of Mauro Galindo, where she performed works by Uwe Scholz, Robert North, Kirsten Debrok, and Mauro Galindo himself.

In the second stage of his career, he worked with various European companies in Belgium, Italy, France, and Austria, performing pieces by David Sonnenbluck, Misha Van Hoecke, Robert Poole, Rui Horta, and Giacopo Godanni. During this period, he made several stays in Barcelona, collaborating with Ramon Oller’s company.

At the end of 2002, she settled in Barcelona, where she began her teaching career and her creative journey, alongside Hervé Costa.

In 2004, they premiered “L’O”, the first duet from their company, Les 4 Souffles, with which they developed their own repertoire for seven years. The experience of directing a company led them to combine creation, dissemination, and teaching. During this period, Sara devoted much of her time to exploring body language, gesture, and expression, increasingly delving into the field of somatic education.

During her time with Les 4 Souffles, and with the support of Marie-Christine and Daniel Dal-Farra and their center, Les Studios Actuels de la Danse, she was invited, together with Hervé, to participate and create in the production of videos aimed at a vulnerable audience, in co-production with the psychiatrist C. Robert Cloninger (USA). Together with a team of professionals from the fields of health and the arts, she collaborated in the creation of productions that recount the lives and work of historical figures, using movement as a pretext to transmit history, culture, well-being and profound values through visual and sensory means.

In 2015, she graduated as an accredited Feldenkrais Method teacher and began researching how to apply somatics to dance pedagogy. This approach transformed her way of understanding and teaching movement, and she found inspiration in transmitting the foundations of contemporary dance to children through dynamics related to their own stages of development.

On February 22, 2016, together with Hervé Costa, he opened Obrador de Moviments, a center that focuses on the integration of somatic techniques into the arts of movement and dance. Since then, it has evolved into a leading space that brings together the three pillars that motivate them most: learning, artistic creation, and human relationships.

Her work with children at Obrador de Moviments becomes a key driver of research, helping them develop and explore their own imaginary and creative world through body and movement.

Additionally, this approach is adapted for older adults to enhance their overall well-being through simple, gentle movements inspired by Feldenkrais Method (FM) sequences that culminate in dance and creative movement dynamics. This space is essential for fostering motivation and improving the quality of life of older adults.

In 2019, using these same principles, she collaborated with a group of women affected by breast cancer from the Chicas Endevant association in Vall d’Hebron, where each participant engaged in a process of self-healing, empowerment, and emotional well-being.

Since 2017, she has organized accredited Feldenkrais Method training sessions with Hervé Costa. Since 2023, they have both been administrative directors of Feldenkrais Training Barcelona, and Sara has been a co-assistant on the team.

At Obrador, Sara teaches contemporary dance classes for children and adolescents ages 6 to 13, classical dance classes for children, youth, and adults at various levels, Feldenkrais and dance classes, and dance classes for seniors over 65. She also teaches individual Feldenkrais Method (Functional Integration) classes and private lessons for young learners.

From time to time, Sara and Hervé teach workshops and creative labs open to an increasingly diverse audience, offering a space to explore, experience, and enjoy movement and dance in all their expressions.

In 2024, together with an international team of artists and educators, they began collaborating on Erasmus+ exchange projects. These participatory, international projects are developed through creative workshops and dialogue spaces, with the aim of giving voice to young people from different European countries. Through choreographic arts, voice, music, and audiovisual arts, young people share their artistic experiences and their vision of the benefits of the arts in our society.

In addition, they manage and coordinate the growth and proper functioning of all the areas that drive the center.
